C.A. Onwudiegwu
Dr. (Mrs.) Onwudiegwu was born into the Inoma family of Onitsha on the 26th of February, 1968 in Lagos, Nigeria. She is the first in a family of three girls and two boys. She had her elementary school education in Ekulu Primary School, GRA, Enugu where she won the state essay competition on Pollution is a Hazard to Life as she graduated in 1979. Her excellent performance at the National Common Entrance examination got her into the much sought-after Federal Government College, Enugu on merit. She completed her secondary education in 1984 and was admitted the same year into Anambra State University of Technology, Awka. She obtained a B.Sc. Degree in Applied Microbiology in 1990 from this university which was renamed Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria after the former Anambra State was split into Anambra and Enugu States in 1991. In her quest for more knowledge, she obtained an M.Sc. Degree in Environmental Control and Management in 2008 from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. A couple of years later, in 2014 she was awarded a Ph.D. in Ecology and Environmental Science by the same university she obtained her Master’s. Dr. Onwudiegwu joined the African Institute for Science Policy and Innovation (AISPI) in 2015 as a Research Fellow I. To ensure relevance to the mission and visions of the institute, she enrolled and in 2018 obtained a Masters’s degree in Technology Management.
With postgraduate degrees in environmental science, she has honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the complex interplay between human activities and the environment. However, her research interests are not limited to environmental studies but also include bioremediation of the soil and water environmental media in recognition of the fact that under the influence of the law of gravity, some significant sizes of all forms of air pollution, are scavenged into the soil and water environments with impacts transferred to the food chain through biogeochemical pathways. This interest demonstrates her versatility, ability, and commitment to applying her skills and expertise to find innovative and sustainable solutions to various environmental challenges facing our planet today. She has several research publications to her credit in international journals of repute.
